This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

BIOGRAPHY:

ENGLISH ASSASIN

The band English Assassin was formed in 1976 by some musicians that later joined Dr. Feelgood, also a member of Mott The Hoople:

ENGLISH ASSASSIN #1

Nigel Benjamin

Ian Gibbons

They split in 1977. As far as I know, they didn't record any material.

CHRIS REA BAND

This was the Chris Rea Band that played in Ireland in December 1983:

Gilson Lavis

+ some female backing vocalist. Help, please!

By they way, their concert in the German TV Beat Club program showed a female vocalist. Who was she?

This was the Chris Rea Band in 1984:

BARBARA DICKSON BAND

Jerry played for a while in Barbara Dickson Band, but I haven´t been able to find proper info about lineups. Help, please...

In 1990, Dave Bronze joins Barbara Dickson Band:

BARBARA DICKSON BAND #?

At the end of 1990, Stevenson, Bronze and Jenkins leave to form their own band Be Sharp.

BE SHARP

At the end of 1990, Be Sharp is formed from the inside of Barbara Dickson´s band:

BE SHARP #1
1990-Mar 91
êBarbara Dickson Band
êBarbara Dickson Band
êBarbara Dickson Band
Jerry Stevenson
guitar, vocals
Dr Feelgoodê

But Dave Bronze leaves them in March 1991 (to join Dr Feelgood). Years later (in 1997), they released a live album with this lineup, appropiately called Be Sharp Live!, recorded in 1991.
Another great bass player is recruited for Be Sharp, Andy Brown:

BE SHARP #2
1991-1997
Jerry Stevenson
guitar, vocals
Andy Brown
bass

Andy Brown left them sometime during 1997.

TONY HADLEY BAND

This is the lineup for Tony Hadley Band circa May 1992:

They also recorded the album The state of play, with some contribution by Steve Lukather on guitar and backing vocals by Joe Pizzulo, Tommy Funderburk and Mark Spiro.

BE SHARP (continued)

The new bass player in Be Sharp is Gary Moxom:

BE SHARP #3
1997-?
Jerry Stevenson
(guitar, vocals)
Gary Moxom
(bass)
Bob Jenkins
(drums)

And now, the new bass player in Be Sharp is Darren Tingey:

BE SHARP #4

Darren Tingey

GAMBLER

This is funny... Drummer Barry Sibbett has two bands: Gambler and Gambler Mk II. Gambler has appeared for more than 11 years every Monday at The Bear and Ragged Staff pub in Crayford, Kent, England. And Gambler Mk II does the same but on Thursdays with a slightly different lineup.

This is Gambler:

GAMBLER #
Kevin Miller
bass
Barry Sibbett
drums

AND MORE...

Jerry has also played live with Gary Brooker, but I´m still looking for that info.

As far as I know, he also appear in some other album by Olivia Gray (maybe Gfallne Angel), but haven´t been able to find them, so don´t know the titles. Help, please!

I need to check if Jerry is the producer of any of the CDs by Shea Rider.

    1 comment:

    1. Gambler is Jerry Stevenson (guitar), Kevin Miller (bass) and Barry Sibbett (drums) and for 11 1/2 years appeared every Monday at The Bear and Ragged Staff pub in Crayford, Kent, England, but the brewer has a new area manager and he has stopped music on the Mondays, the last being 05 April 2010!!
Gambler II is Geoff Whitehorn (guitar) and Kevin, Barry and Andy (bad) Robinson (guitar 2) and appear at the same pub on Thursdays.
Geoff also tours with Procul Harem, Paul Rogers and Roger Chapman and also toured with Elkie Brookes.
The name Gambler I think is owned by Barry (Big John) Sibbet and whoever he has appearing with him.
I'm actually off to see Gambler II (again) in just a few minutes.
      Hope this helps??
      Andy
