This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

  1. Warren was a great talent. Saw him many times with the Silencers back in the day. I think he played with Red Hot and Blue for some time after he left the Silencers, as well.

    RIP: Warren!

  2. Use to see Warren King at the Monroeville Coffee House in the early 70's many times. Astounded that he was playing slide note for note to Duane Allman when none of us kids could figure it out. '72 I went into the Navy and never heard of him again, except the Diamond Rio stint. In 2005 I moved to Deland, FL. and was in a thrift store when I noticed a cd named Hurricane Blues. Reading the back, I found Warren's name, associated with Kingssnake Studios in Sanford, Fl. Played it and reconized the licks. Wow, couldn't believe it! So went to see Russ Kellum Band from Brevard County (great blues player too), several years ago, damned if I didn't hear some of those very same licks Warren use to play. Maybe a coincidence but it sure did bring back those set-closings Warren use to do after every set. Wow! So I've been carrying a copy of the Hurricane Blues around for the last several years, just to give to Russ, for him to see the similarities. Hit and miss, but maybe this Saturday, 1 Apr 17, at HD Roadhouse he'll get that copy and enjoy Warrens music that will never die. RIP WK. Another Pittsburgher sends (k.kibler)
