This is intended to be a homage to very many musicians I've loved since I started listening to music. My intention is to tell what I know about them, hoping that those people who like them too, will help me fill numerous gaps, which I may have in their careers and discographies. Sorry, but there are no MP3 audio files here at all, just info (and love for the musicians).

BIOGRAPHY:

Bob Welch was a fantastic guitarist. He was born Robert Lawrence Welch Jr on August 31st, 1945 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

SEVEN SOULS

Bob Welch joined LA band Seven Souls in 1964 (really?), but I haven´t details about their lineup(s) with him, except for one:

Bob Welch
guitar
Henry Thompson
bass
Bobby Hunt

Henry Moore

I think Bob plays in their single from 1967, ´I´m no stranger / I still love you´, but I´m not sure. Does anybody know? There´s also an album by the band, but I haven´t it, so can´t confirm if Bob appears there.

Seven Souls also backed The Rainbows in some of their singles, but again, can´t find or confirm this info.

Other info on members of Seven Souls (I know up to 14 members)
To be covered (4): Bobby Hunt, Tony Maiden, David T Walker, Bobby Watson

And in 1972, Danny Kirwan left the band.

But Dave Walker didn´t fit in the band, so after recording an album, Penguin, he left in June 1973, thus the band coming back to the usual quintet format.

BOB WELCH BAND

And then, Bob started his solo career in 1977, initially with great success, helped by his past bandmates of Fleetwood Mac.

I still have to find more info about the live lineups of Bob Welch Band. Can someone help me, please?

AVENUE M

Around 1989, Bob Welch teamed with the band Avenue M for gigs, also releasing one song together:

AVENUE M #?
1989-91
Bob Welch
guitar, vocals
+ others unknown to me. Help!

They played on and off until 1991, with different musicians.

I was shocked when I read that Bob Welch commited suicide with a gunshot on June 7th, 2012 in Antioch, Tennessee. He was 66. He will be very missed. Rest in peace, Bob.

I first saw Bob when I looked at an old Fleetwood Mac concert on TV. They were the quartet lineup with Bob Welch. I was stunned as how fantastic he played (and sang) Peter Green´s penned ´Oh Well´. I became a fan, and I bought some of his solo vinyls when I found them.

  1. God.. I knew Bob.. I was *devastated* when he took his own life, a few short weeks ago.. He never really got fair credit while he was alive, I know that.. He was recording new stuff right up to the end ,and he was just giving his songs away for free, to anyone who wanted to hear them..
    I miss him...
